CHICAGO (March 25, 2019) The longest running pub crawl company in Chicago, TBOX, is hosting a benefit on Saturday, April 6 for three Chicago charities that raise funds to assist first responders. The First In Foundation, Ignite the Spirit and Brotherhood for the Fallen will split 100% of the proceeds of the ticket sales. Two original members of the pop band, the Plain White T’s, Dave Tirio and Steve Mast will perform a matinee concert at G Man Tavern, 3740 N. Clark, during the pub crawl at 2:30 p.m.
“We are proud to be able to do this for our city’s first responders. Police, firefighters and EMTs put their lives on the line everyday for us. This is the least we can do to show them we care,” said Chris Festa, owner of TBOX Bar Crawls.
The public is invited to toast Chicago’s heroes as they visit some of Wrigleyville’s favorite establishments. Surprise celebrity guests will be in attendance. Drink specials and food will be featured along the way. T-shirts and other swag will be given out. General admission is $20 each, four or more tickets are $13.50 each and first responders are $9.11. Tickets available at www.tbox.org/first.
Participating bars include Murphy’s Bleachers Bar, G Man Tavern, Bernie’s, Full Shilling, Rizzo’s and Brickhouse Tavern.
About the charities:
First In Foundation:
The First In Foundation (FIF) is expanding its focus to assist first responders who struggle with anxiety, depression and PTSD due to their overwhelming stress experienced as a firefighter, police officer or EMT.
The FIF is offering a music therapy program to help combat this issue. Findings suggest that music therapy is effective in reducing depression symptoms and improving health-related quality of life. Partnering with musicians, instrument companies and retailers, music studios and concert venues, FIF will provide instruments, lessons and rehearsal time for all first responders looking to finding peace through music. This program will increase camaraderie throughout the officers, firefighters and EMTs. They will have a creative and healthy outlet to manage their stress and not feel alone. All genres of music will be included.
Ignite the Spirit:
Ignite the Spirit is a charity that has been around since 2003 and has helped over 500 families in need. Ignite the Spirit has donated over a million dollars to ease the hardship of Chicago Fire Department families. We understand what it means to give back to the less fortunate, and to be there for a person in his or her darkest moments. It is never good to see strong, brave people who protect and help the public every day in such despair, often with nowhere to turn. In all that we do for others, we not only respect each other’s privacy, we also respect each other’s pride.
That is why Ignite the Spirit takes great pride in being able to make a difference in the lives of people when called upon. Whether it is delivering toys to sick kids in the hospital at Christmas, or riding a bicycle 1000 miles to help raise money for pediatric cancer research, Ignite the Spirit has proven it wants to make a difference.
Brotherhood for the Fallen:
The Brotherhood for the Fallen is a non-profit organization that honorably supports the families and communities of fallen officers across the United States. Since these brave heroes have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, our mission is to provide support to their families, departments, and communities.
Nationally recognized as a 501(c) (3) organization, BFTF Chicago is comprised of Chicago Police Officers that physically and financially demonstrate support to Officers that have been murdered in the line of duty, across the United States of America.
