Jumping Beans Chicago was founded by Chicagoan Amanda Tice, who opted to become a substitute teacher for Chicago Public Schools, which is where it all happened, one afternoon, in a classroom, teaching fourth-grade students.  It was that day; the students stole her heart and Amanda left with a passion and drive to do all she could to help students obtain much needed school supplies. That day, the students were all sharing one-inch pencils with no erasers as there were no funds to buy additional school supplies.

With an intense amount of inspiration from those students, Amanda founded Jumping Beans Chicago. Jumping Beans Chicago is a not for profit (501c3) that holds events, made possible purely by donations of venues, performers, photographers, caterers, magicians, liquor stores, restaurant linens and more, as well as substantial donations of silent auction items such as art work, photography, week-end get-a-ways, gift baskets, gift certificates and more. Amanda goes door-to-door, single-handedly, to businesses, to encourage donations for her events and uses all of the proceeds to buy school supplies for various student communities within the Chicago Public School system who are so much in need.

Although Amanda Tice wasn’t originally from Chicago, she has been a long-time resident that spends every minute of her free time conceiving her next event. With the help of a few friends and establishing new and ever growing connections, Amanda is well underway to planning her next event to raise not only funds, but awareness and hope for a brighter future for the students of Chicago Public Schools to better engage them in learning with the much needed resources they so deserve.

Amanda has a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from the Illinois Institute of Art as well as a degree in Interior Design. Since transitioning into a substitute teacher, Amanda can be found tending bar to free up her time to acquire sponsors for her upcoming Jumping Beans events.
